About us
Our story: From a Dream to Excellence, The Journey of Tomato Thyme
In 1996, Javier Torres, a 15-year-old young man, stood at the edge of a tomato field. With just a worn-out pickup truck and a burning dream in his heart, Javier promised himself to transform the world of agriculture.
Today, three decades later, Tomato Thyme employs 130 full-time workers (increasing to 300 during peak season) and supplies fresh tomatoes to more than 1,400 supermarkets along the East Coast of the United States. However, Javier never forgot his roots.
Through the ups and downs that every entrepreneur faces, Javier always prioritized his people. He quickly learned that to grow and make a difference in the world, he would need a committed team. Thus the philosophy that guides the company to this day was born: “If we all grow and improve at the same time—our employees, suppliers, and customers—we all do well.”
This vision has allowed Tomato Thyme to become a benchmark of excellence in the industry, always maintaining a commitment to quality and authentic flavor that characterizes each of our tomatoes. Our facilities and farms are T-GAP certified and fully approved by NSF agricultural audits, guaranteeing the highest food safety standards.
